I was really impressed with the turnout last night’s forum, “Digital Media - What’s Next?” sponsored by the Georgetown Entertainment and Media Alliance (GEMA). The event took place at the Princeton Club here in Manhattan.
It was nice to see a great linup of speakers from all different sectors of digital media. See below for panel information:
Jim Berra, SVP & General Manager, Rodale Online
David Eun, VP, Content Partnerships, Google
David Klein, EVP, Centris
Michael McCracken (SFS ‘90), President & COO, UGO Networks
Nada Stirratt, EVP Digital Media, MTV Networks
I live tweeted the event as well for blow-by-blow action. :)
It’s going to be exciting to watch Hoyas who are passionate about technology and media grow an even larger camp here in NYC. I hope to be a part of that.

There’s a quiet race going on within Facebook: the battle for the most fans among University Facebook Pages. Who would have thought?
Here’s the list thus far:
1. The Open University - 6,076 fans
2. University of Michigan - 2,544 fans
3. Georgetown University - 1,618 fans
4. Ferris State University - 1,511 fans
5. Stanford University - 1,385 fans
Shameless plug, but if you are a fan of Georgetown University, be sure to make note on this Facebook page.
It’s great to see Georgetown reaching out through dynamic communication streams such as Facebook Pages/Groups; I just wish the University could make greater use out of it’s existing Twitter account, Hoyasonline. Although the account details the “Alumni Web site,” I feel there should be some more interactivity in there, i.e. current student news, quick quotes, opinion pieces, etc…maybe even link to some interesting Hoya, Independent or Voice features? And just a crazy thought: what about having students live tweet their undergraduate/graduate experiences and feed into one main account? I would LOVE to see that, especially as Georgetown becomes more digital over the years.
